They design a bracelet that transmits in real time to the future dad the movements of his baby inside the womb

That a future dad can feel in his day to day and in real time the movements and kicks of your baby, it will no longer be science fiction. Three jewelry design students at the Copenhagen School of Design and Technology have designed a device capable of recording all the movements of the baby in the mother's gut and transmitting them to the father through a bracelet.

This smart bracelet, called Fibo, has not yet been commercialized, but its creators claim to be the first link between a father and his son, in addition to allowing men to become much more involved in their partner's pregnancy.

How does Fibo work?

During the last quarter, the future mother will carry a control device in her gut that monitor your baby's movements. These movements will be transferred in real time to the "smart bracelet" that your partner will wear.

The bracelet contains four beads or small pearls that mimic the movements of the baby turning and pressing on the wrist of the person wearing it, and allowing him to feel the kicks or somersaults of the baby at the same time as the mother feels.

"With Fibo, we want the pregnancy experience to be shared by the couple" - says Sandra Pétursdóttir, one of its creators.

"When the pearls inside the bracelet begin to spin, the father will know that his baby is kicking or moving without having to put his hands on the mother's belly. Therefore, he can feel what the mother is feeling. regardless of being away from her "

The product is still under development but its creators are convinced that it will be a great success that will allow parents to physically connect with their children before coming into the world.

Another characteristic of Fibo is that the baby's movements will be registered forever and parents can recreate them when their child is already born.

"The data of the movements of the baby are saved and transferred to a piece of jewelry that the family can use and enjoy once the baby is born" - explain their creators - "So it could be said that it is the baby who designs the piece of jewelry before birth. "

The bracelet is very aesthetically elegant and Sandra Pétursdóttir also comments that the parents they have asked are delighted with the idea of wearing it and proud to show the world through her that they are waiting for a baby.

An original way to involve parents

The parents' unattainable longing for feel the same as moms feel It is something universal. The somersaults, turns and kicks of babies are only felt by us, and parents must be content to put their hand on our belly and wait, bystanders, for their son to "greet them" with a kick.

I remember the faces of my husband's emotion when I felt the movements of our children through my gut, or the frustration of not noticing anything because the baby stopped moving just when he put his hand on me.

The creators of Fibo, who during the development of this device work side by side with a group of future parents, affirm that the general desire of all parents is to get involved to the fullest and connect with your unborn baby, and that feeling is what has led them to create this bracelet:

"Many parents we talked to confessed that the first time they were aware of bringing a new life to the world was when they heard their baby's heartbeat. We want this feeling to last longer and that is why we created this device."

Fibo is not the first device that recreates the movements of the baby in the womb, and although obviously nothing will be the same as what mothers feel, this "smart bracelet" has seemed to me a precious and moving idea to involve couples during pregnancy, and that they can feel continuously (even if it is in a simulated way and very far from reality) that life that is brewing in the mother's body.
