Why is St. Joseph's Day celebrated in Spain?

There are different theories about the origin of the celebration in Spain, which has chosen San José Day, as the European Catholic tradition marks.

It is believed that it was about The 1950s when this date began to be celebrated with the idea of equating it with the celebration of Mother's Day that was celebrated on December 8, on the occasion of the feast of the Immaculate Conception.

One of the theories about the origin of the celebration dates back to 1948, when Manuela Vicente Ferrero, a teacher from the Vallecas neighborhood of Madrid, proposed that a day be created to honor parents. Apparently, the claim would have come from some parents of his school to see that their children made crafts at school for mothers but not for parents.

The teacher wrote an article in The Spanish magisterium encouraging other schools to celebrate Father's Day and the idea was extended to reach the owner of the Precious Galleries, who was responsible for promoting this day to boost the purchase of gifts. The English Court also added to the idea.

Since then, the date settled and continued to be celebrated until today.
