The emotional reunion of a nurse and one of the babies she cared for at the NICU, now as co-workers

Nurses who care for premature babies or those who remain for a while in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are true angels down from heaven. They take care not only of caring for their small patients, but of supporting the parents of the babies there.

Probably most of them do not hear from those little ones that they once held in their arms, but in the story that we will share with them today, there was a very special and emotional reunion. A nurse was filled with joy when she discovered that one of the babies she took care of during her stay at the NICU is now her co-worker..

Vilma Wong is a nurse who has worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Lucford Packard Children's Hospital in Stanford in Palo Alto, California, for over 32 years. Throughout all those years, He has taken care of thousands of babies who were admitted and looked after with loving dedication.

With the parents of some of the babies he has taken care of, he keeps in touch, but others have not crossed his path again. But without any doubt, one of the most emotional reunions he has had in his career as a nurse, is one that they recently shared on the hospital's Facebook page.

This is Brandon Seminatore, a neurologist who is completing his second year of residence in the same hospital where he was born 29 weeks ago 28 years ago, and who He was one of the babies Vilma took care of.

Through two photographs that show the before and after, we can see how the years have passed and the joy of both of them having met again:

In an interview for Babble, Vilma tells how this unexpected and emotional reunion happened Between her and her patient almost 30 years ago:

I asked him who he was and what his name was, and his last name sounded very familiar. I kept asking him where he was from and he said he was from San Jose, California, and that in fact, he had been a premature baby born in our hospital. That was when I began to suspect, because I remembered being the main nurse of a baby with the same name.

To get out of doubt, she decided to ask if her father was a police officer, and says that her question was followed by emotional silence. Then Brandon asked if she was Vilma. "I told him yes"says the nurse.

He tells that his mother, seeing that he would work in the same hospital where he was born, told him to ask for Vilma, but having spent almost 30 years, he told him that he did not think he would continue working and most likely he had already retired.

For both, it was an incredible and emotional experience, because having met again in the same place where she took care of him when he was a premature babyIt was something that left them impressed and full of joy.

Upon realizing this, Brandon wrote to his parents, for he remembered that they had shown him some photographs in which Vilma appeared with him in his arms. They sent them to them and then they took a picture together, which are the ones that appear in the publication of the hospital page.

The history and images of Vilma and Brandon have received more than 28,000 reactions and have been filled with comments from the parents of other Vilma patients, and many people who recognize and applaud this beautiful reunion, as well as the work and dedication that the nurses of the NICU have.
