The risks of carrying the backpack in the car seat

When we take the children to school, the rush and unconsciousness can cause us not to place them correctly in the child restraint system (SRI), or there are even those who carry them in arms, increasing the severity of the accident in case it occurs . But just as bad is that children are subject to the restraint system with the backpack on.

The 2009 SRI report analyzed the risks of riding in the chair with the backpack on, a dangerous practice that is nevertheless common. To demonstrate the consequences of this practice, three crash trials were carried out by placing backpacks on the backs of the test dolls.

A backpack placed on the back significantly increased the risk of the child suffering from chest injuries, rib fractures and internal injuries in the event of an accident.

This is because the weight of the backpack in the case of a frontal impact is multiplied for 40: 200 kg of weight will press on the child's spine.

It is also necessary to have serious injuries during a side crash wearing the backpack. As the passenger is sitting very far ahead of the backpack, the sides of the SRI will not protect him during the crash. Both your chest and your head will impact the vehicle doors.

Therefore, before each tour the backpack must be removed from the back and place it on the floor or in the trunk of the vehicle. It is a simple operation that will take us just a minute, and the life and health of the children justify it well.
