Sing during labor? Why not?

They call it "sung birth"And now they want to import it to the West as if it were a novel method or technique, when this is likely to be done for millennia, actually. I'm talking about making mother sing during labor in order to mitigate the pain, divert attention and, ultimately, let possible discomfort flow into a sound that helps to better control the situation.

You will probably be imagining a pregnant woman singing right now and it seems that one thing is the opposite of the other, as if she were not marrying that of giving birth and singing. Or maybe you are imagining the moment when you gave birth and say "yes man, as if to start singing I was". Yes, it might sound weird, but why not? Don't they say that music tames the 'beasts'?

Well, if music is able to tame wild animals, what will it not do with a woman in full labor and a baby trying to be born. We know that music serves as a learning vehicle. We know that it is useful for children with problems and that it is recommended for any other child and for any person (well, we all know it except the politicians who govern us), because it also brings benefits to the woman and her baby.

Benefits during childbirth

What are the benefits? Well, it depends a little on each woman, on what she likes to sing or on whether she can feel ashamed singing. Come on, the last thing that should happen is for the mother to consider that she is doing a concert and that she should do better or worse. Music should not be the end, but the medium, a company. The voice should leave almost alone. He must sing because he feels he must do it and because he wants to do it, no matter if someone listens to him. That way you can decentralize all your thoughts on what the contractions hurt to spread it with your voice, with the moment of singing, and thus face those moments better.

When singing, when emitting sounds (we don't need to sing a song with its lyrics and everything, there are women who make melodies, as if they were singing with an "Aaaaaa" that changes its tone as needed) relieves tension and reduces pain, regulates the mother's breathing, which does not accelerate or stop, to ensure her supply of oxygen and that of the baby, gives force, gives trust, it approximates its roots, those of everyone, makes it see itself as a capable woman, close to nature, more animal, making use of its tools to achieve it by itself.

In addition, by singing, by generating your own melody, you can disconnect from the surrounding noises to connect more with yourself, closing your eyes and letting yourself go, in your voice, to listen to yourself not only on the outside, but also inside.

Isn't music associated with emotions going?

If you want to run faster or be more efficient, you listen to music with a lively, fast rhythm that helps you. If you want to relax, you play slow music. If you want to sleep your baby, you sing a babysitter almost in a whisper. And so we can continue until we finish, because music is totally linked to our lives, varying according to the moment.

Well, giving birth may be another time when music can be present, and more so if, as I say, it is the same woman who decides when and what to sing.

If you are still reluctant, if it still sounds weird, watch these videos. They are women who sang during labor and decided to make it public. It is not as much as I explain it, because they sing songs and it does not seem so mystical, but it becomes something like this:

This one does not look very good, but it is interesting to know that at the time of recording it was 28 hours of labor and it was dilated 8 cm:

In this one that comes next (unfortunately recorded in vertical) we see a mom with a special talent. I see her pending the camera and the notes, perhaps this is not so much what I am talking about, but precisely disconnecting, but as she explains, she gave birth 5 hours later:

And in this one, the woman sings an hour before giving birth and explains that she recommends using low, serious notes, to better control the pain:
