Bamboo bicycles to study: the solidarity and decision of Bernice Dapaah

I like to start the day with good news and find out stories of generosity like this and I like being able to share them to see if they all become very contagious.

This time it is the initiative of the Bernice company that have been proposed prevent children from their city from dropping out of school and therefore their education and their possibilities for a better future, by manufacturing bamboo bicycles.

Bernice Dapaah He was a university student when he decided to start a small business that was based on the use of local resources and also supported the local economy. He got down to work and created a small but ambitious social enterprise, his intention was and is, nothing less than to reconvert the economy of the country, of his country Ghana. With his small business he intends to benefit his employees, his community and by extension to the environment, to his natural environment. This good intention has already been six years and Your company is a reality in which 35 young people work those who were taught to handle bamboo because they are dedicated precisely to creating bicycles with this material: bamboo.

Solidarity bicycles

Ghana Bamboo Bikes Initiative is the name of this company that in addition to selling sustainable bicycles, something that already is very positive news, what makes it even more special is that he also donates these bicycles to children who have no other way to get to their schools so that they are not forced because of the distance they have to travel each day to abandon their studies and thus have a greater chance of improving their future.

Bernice has set out to employ and help the most vulnerable young people in the labor market, those with less training and the women in their community.
Obviously, at the beginning everything was very complicated especially to get a business model that was viable but with perseverance and a lot of work Bernice has managed to sell his product and is now thinking of expanding his market.

For each piece of bamboo that is used for the manufacture of bicycles, another ten are planted. All the materials used are easy to repair and replace, are affordable for users and are 100% recyclable.

You know what they say about small people, like Bernice, doing small things, like their small business of thirty-five people, can change the world. And if we followed his example, we would surely have a much better world than we have now.
