The transphobic advertising campaign against transgender children

Although we all know that we are in 2017, and that should say that Western societies have evolved a lot and that they are increasingly tolerant and respectful, in practice it seems not. And worst of all: in many cases, allowed.

I'm talking about the Transphobic advertising campaign entitled "The bus that does not lie", which consists of walking through the streets of Madrid, and soon through the main Spanish cities, a bus with messages of rejection towards transgender children (and transgender in general), whose circulation should be, I consider, totally prohibited.

"Do not be fooled"

Work of HazteOir.org, the campaign aims to make children aware that they are what they were born with. And period There is no room for misunderstanding, they say, because the concept of gender is determined by the sexual organ with which you are born, and not with how you feel you are.

The children have a penis. The girls have vulva. Do not be fooled. If you are born a man, you are a man. If you are a woman, you will continue to be.

This is the message that appears on the orange bus, along with some links for anyone who wants to download the book "Do you know what they want to teach your child in school?", With a rather surprising url: Ellibroprohibido.com.

Advertising

They call it that because it is "The book they don't want you to read", and it doesn't surprise me ... it comes to join the list of books with racist, homophobic and transphobic content that nobody wants their children to read.

It is a countercampaign

As we read in El Español, last month the Chrysallis Euskal Herri association carried out a campaign to raise awareness of the reality of transgender children: "There are girls with penis and boys with vulva. It's that simple." "The majority suffer every day because society is unaware of this reality," the message said.

Well, in response, the bus will tour the cities of Spain with this countercap. That "Do not be fooled", that if you have a penis you are a man and if you have a vulva, woman.

What should our children learn?

That above all, we are people. That above all, we must respect to others, regardless of sex, color, gender and sexual identity. It is difficult enough for transgender children to understand the reason for things, so that from the outside, their peers and a part of society dedicate themselves to denying what they are.

We have a responsibility to provide our children, to the next generation, with an open-minded, inclusive, conciliatory and more liberal education than we receive. If not, we run the risk of continuing to recede, and we can't afford it.
