Seven things that as a mother I envy of the Non-Mo (but I would not change them for anything)

I became a mother while still in her twenties, something totally unusual in my group of friends. It is now, several years after my first maternity, when the couples in my environment are beginning their journey as parents.

However, not all my friends want to have children and some are very clear that motherhood is not an option that they will contemplate now, nor ever. If you are also part of what is known as "No-Mo Generation" (women who have voluntarily decided not to be mothers) I will tell you the seven things that I deeply envy of your lifestyle.

1. You sleep soundly

The dream is undoubtedly one of the first things that changes radically when you have a son. You will not sleep the whole night never, nor to make the star in bed, nor, much less, to get up when you really feel like it.

Sleep patterns change you and, while your child is a baby, your biorhythms are disturbed. Night shots, cramps or bad nights will return you addicted to coffee for a long season.

When this phase has passed, there will be the stage of nightmares and night terrors, of "Mommy, bring me water", of "I want to pee", of "Can I sleep with you (while I kick you in dreams)? ... In short, mothers' sleep quality decreases a lot.

There is also another concept that, luckily, you will save yourself from knowing and is to "get up early on weekends or during your holidays". And is that getting up on a Sunday in August at seven in the morning is surely not the idea you have of vacation rest.

2. Take care of yourself, pamper yourself and go to the latest in fashion

Taking care of yourself and pampering yourself should not be at odds with being a mother, but the care we give ourselves when we don't have children are quite different from those we give ourselves when we do.

If you are No-Mo and you like cosmetics, you will know all the facial creams, the best lipstick on the market or the nail color that is all the rage this season. Your hair will always be perfect, without gray hair and with the fashionable cut and your legs will look divine every month of the year.

On the other hand, most of the mothers, as much as we like to take care of ourselves, it is likely that we have to wear the chipped nails more than once, that we urgently need a dye or that we have the legs shaved by areas.

And if you are a No-Mo fashion lover you will know all the trends and styles and you will have time to go shopping and get lost in the women's clothing section for hours. No tiny suit will get your attention or the money you planned to spend on you to buy children's clothes will go away.

3. You enjoy reading, music and cinema

What better plan is there for a Saturday at noon than to quietly enjoy a good read while savoring a delicious snack? You really don't know how I envy you!

For a No-Mo, reading can be an almost routine hobby along with the cinema or television. You will never feel absent in a conversation that revolves around the most watched series or that analyzes the last best-seller From the market.

You may also be an expert in cinema and not only do not miss any premiere of the billboard, but also know the complete filmography of all the actors. And when it comes to music, you will never have heard the little song of the cup, the spoon and the fork, but you will have burned the dance floors with the song of the summer.

4. You are punctual and discreet

If you stay with your partner or your friends somewhere you will always arrive on time. You love punctuality and you like people to be punctual with you too! You will never know what an "explosive poop" of a baby means five minutes before going out the door, or a vomit of milk on the shirt you just put on and that forces you to change your clothes at the last moment.

Further, your presence on the sites is discreet. You will speak in a normal tone, you will enjoy a pleasant dinner at the restaurants and you can chat without interruptions.

And, believe me! But arriving twenty minutes late to the restaurant where you have stayed, heated because of the rush, with a child in your arms, another taking refuge between your legs and another protesting because he preferred to stay at home, will attract the eyes of All diners. However discreet you like it to be.

5. You love to plan!

If you are No-Mo you may like it plan in advance what you want to do. There is nothing more stimulating than looking at hotel catalogs on the beach in the middle of January, planning with great detail a party with friends or simply programming to the millimeter what you are going to do next weekend.

Neither a child virus, nor a baby football game, nor a huge birthday party at a ball park will never change your plans. But if you have no plan ... you can always improvise a meeting with friends or an afternoon of relaxation, movie and Chinese food!

6. Your vacations, yes they are vacations!

If you don't have children, your concept of “vacations” will be summed up to two main ideas: rest a lot and have even more fun. Waking up without schedules, sunbathing for hours on a clean sand towel, eating whenever and wherever you want and having no limitations when making plans, are essential requirements for a No-Mo.

The mothers, on the other hand, spent summer vacations making sandcastles, chasing our children to put on their hats and fighting for a piece of shadow on the seafront.

The positive thing is that mothers do not suffer from post-holiday syndrome because, really, we do not have real vacations. Of what I call "rag holidays"

7. Your house always looks clean and tidy

For a maniac of order like me, having a clean and perfectly decorated house is something that I really miss. The glasses and mirrors of my house always have fingers and drool, slippers and socks appear where I least expect it and it becomes really difficult to find the remote control or the phone.

If you are No-Mo these things that I tell you will not sound to you. Your house is always tidy, the things you place will remain in the same place until you change them and you can have as many ornaments as you want on your shelves. And let's not forget the walls and upholsteries that in your house they will always look white and clean. Chocolate scraps ?, plastidecor graffiti ?, greasy traces on the couch ?: Never !.

But look ... I'm sorry you miss it!

Oh friend No-Mo! How many things in your life I envy and long for right now. However, you can't imagine what I wish you could check for a day what it means to be a mom.

Because when your children arrive and they give you a hug tickle, they fill you with slug kisses and take you out of your thoughts with their childish laughter, the world stops. And that's when, once again, I deeply appreciate life for having given me the gift of motherhood

Even with dark circles, disheveled and chocolate hands stamped on my pants, being a mother is something magical and unique that I would never change!
