Baby chin irritation by drooling

As we know, baby's skin is very delicate. To this is added that all babies drool, which usually causes irritation in the chin area.

Although it does not seem to be very serious, it is a disorder that we must control so that it does not happen to adults, since the irritation could become infected and become eczema, cause the appearance of fungi or dermatitis.

Excessive drooling of the baby appears approximately after three months, usually associated with the appearance of the first teeth. Although the first tooth comes out at six months, salivation may appear months earlier.

The baby is not able to swallow all the saliva it produces, so it overflows causing irritation in the area of the mouth, cheeks, chin and sometimes neck.

The pacifier does not help much, since it aggravates the situation due to the rubbing of the plastic on the skin of the baby's chin.

What can we parents do? It is inevitable that the baby will drool, but what we can do to prevent the irritation from going further is to dry the drool frequently with a cotton towel.

The main thing is to keep the mouth and neck area as dry and clean as possible. It is advisable to use bibs also to prevent excess saliva from moistening clothes, increasing the risk of colds.

In addition, you can find in the pharmacy some very effective creams specific to babies indicated for this type of condition.
