Asturias will not help promote birth among its citizens

We were surprised by the statements made by the Minister of Economy and Public Administration of Asturias indicating that financial aid to promote birth will not be provided. The counselor indicates that there is nothing to prove that the birth rate increases as a result of the economic bonuses that can be provided.

The words of Jaime Rabanal can only lead us to think two things, or he has a great salary with which to properly support his family or on the contrary he has no children. We would like to see this man in the same situation that thousands of families suffer where the idea of conceiving a child is a mere illusion due to the economic burden and the precarious salaries. The Minister argues that the data provided by the municipal registry and obtained through the National Statistics Institute, shows that Asturias is the only autonomous community that has lost population during the past year. Perhaps it is true, but we could almost assure that the fact of vetoing the aid will provide a worse birth situation, many Spanish communities have relatively improved their birth rates thanks to the aid outside the births of foreign families. This is one of the reasons why various experts propose to maintain and increase aid, however, it seems that the counselor is determined not to do so.

Asturias and La Rioja are the only two Spanish communities that do not offer the economic benefits linked to the birth of children. Perhaps the counselor has no interest in promoting birth, and if so, it is best to expose the plans or policy to follow instead of vetoing something that works for other communities.
