Now, YouTube has announced what many parents expected: greater control of the content their children watch, because Now you can manually select the videos and channels that you can watch on YouTube Kids.
After meeting some and alerting you to the deceptive videos that are hosted on YouTube, in which popular animated characters appear in situations inappropriate for children, I proposed the application of YouTube Kids as one of the alternatives to offer safe and suitable content for your children.
However, the streaming service for children had some failures and it was found that despite the security measures, some content that was intended for a larger audience was filtered. The temporary solution was to deactivate the search in the application, so that only the suggestions that were generated there were based on the videos watched.
Recently, through an article on your official blog, YouTube has announced new parental control options in its app for kids. One of them is that it will now also offer content for children between eight and 12 years old, since it was originally intended for children.
But what interests parents most is the new measure to have greater control over what our children look at in their application. And is that Now we can manually select each channel and video that we want our children to see, thus limiting the content offered to them on YouTube Kids.
This option is now available worldwide and can be configured on both Android devices and iOS. To activate it, you only need to access the settings, go to the child's profile and select the option that allows you to show only the approved content.
Once it has been activated, then we can manually select each YouTube video or channel that we allow to see our children, by touching the plus sign (+) that appears next to the name. Likewise, we have the option of searching for the specific name of a channel to add it to the list.
With this new change of content selection on YouTube Kids, it is expected that children can enjoy content approved by their parents, suitable for their ages and that we can be calmer by being certain that they are safe and protected against videos that are not appropriate for them.
