Special Infant Feeding: recipes for children under one year (I)

We begin today our Special on Infant Feeding in Babies and more, knowing that it is a topic that worries, with all the right, to parents.

We start with some Recipes designed for children from six months to the year, which, at the beginning, we are going to offer crushed or with a network of infant feeding.

Our recipes are not expensive, they are fast and have something very important in their favor: they are made with natural foods, readily available, full of nutrients and without additives of any kind. Again, it takes very little to prepare them and it is worth the peace of mind to give children the best possible food, and the richest, homemade food.

Children who eat little or do not accept new foods or preparations, the search for a diet that provides all the nutrients and discarding those foods that have an inadequate composition or produce allergies are, as I said, important issues that parents worry.

In addition, though It is very important to follow the food introduction recommendations to avoid allergies or intolerances or, simply, not to recharge the child's digestive system with food for which he is not prepared, the lists given to us in pediatric consultations vary many times and parents may feel confused.

It does not really matter if we start with cereals, vegetables or fruits, as long as we do it gradually, monitoring the tolerance of the child and without trying to eat large amounts, but what they want to eat, is a basic premise especially during the first year of life. Along this first year the child will adapt to the family table and, we will only have to wait to introduce, from the year or later, according to the foods, those that are more susceptible to produce allergies: the egg, the milk of cow without adapting and the seafood and nuts.

However, when we start giving complementary feeding to the little ones, we can fall into some mistakes: obsess that they eat a huge plate, be bored with the flavors and textures, force them to eat or decrease the amount of breast milk or bottle so that be hungry. Supplementary feeding complements, as the name suggests, milk and serves to introduce nutrients, especially iron and so that the child discovers, with pleasure, food.

We will offer you variety in recipes for children under one year, it is absurd to offer children the same food every day, with all authorized vegetables, the same cereals or a single kind of meat, just as we do not eat exactly the same every day. Since getting the child to enjoy eating and feel pleasure while eating, respecting their tastes, the idea is precisely to offer different recipes, with varied flavors, that allow them to enjoy a true gastronomy for babies.

Chicken with carrot

This delicious recipe from chicken with carrot, once we have confirmed that the child has no reaction to the ingredients separately, we can prepare it with peace of mind, being all its ingredients tolerable after six months.

We will put about 30 grams of chicken breast (we can put more if we want to make some food to freeze, to eat it for us or to make it on a little caldito), a couple of slices of the white part of the leek and a sliced carrot . We will cook it covered, over medium heat, and it will be ready in 15 minutes, depending on the size of the ingredients. Then you will have to add a little virgin olive oil.

It is usually recommended to cook the carrot apart and discard the cooking water, as it also has nitrates.

Do not put a lot of water, because many nutrients will remain in it, but if we put, as I said, a little more quantity of the ingredients, we can keep an extra cup of broth, which we will use in the dinner soup .

If we do a little more, we can then eat it ourselves, mixing the whole ingredients with cooked and sauteed noodles and seasoning with soy sauce, so as not to have to cook twice.

Veal with peas and zucchini

Another cocidito with a completely different flavor to the previous one, less sweet, but not too strong, especially if we add few peas and remove the skin before crushing them.

The veal should be of good quality, without fat and without nerves (I used sirloin), cut into a thin fillet, about 30 grams or a little more if we want to get over. We will add a small or medium zucchini if it is large, well washed and peeled.

The peas, which can be frozen, will be the ones that fit us in the hollow of the hand, because their flavor is very intense. We can also cook a sprig of celery, which is very aromatic and provides minerals, but we will separate it at the time of crushing, because it has a lot of fiber for the little ones.

It will not take more than ten minutes over medium heat, covered, and with the right broth (we say that the zucchini releases a lot of liquid but that the veal is very dense). We will add, as in the previous recipe, some raw virgin olive oil at the end, to increase the caloric value of the dish.

This dish, without crushing, can also be used to eat adults. Seasoning with white pepper or nutmeg, tomato sauce and some chips, it is delicious, and again we will cook for the baby taking advantage of the dish to adapt it to the elderly.

Colored potatoes

This dish of colored potatoes, ideal for dinner, does not carry meat and precisely its grace consists in that, in not hiding the taste of vegetables and offering, in the same meal, different flavors and colors. It is a dish that children will like to eat with their hands and that we can also take advantage of the elderly perfectly.

We will cook the potatoes, a medium value for the child of six to nine months, well washed and peeled. Then we will crush them by mixing them with different vegetables: pumpkin, broccoli and onion. When mashing the potato with each component we get a dense puree (let's not forget not to put excess water), we get orange, white and green, which we will present in a very colorful and cheerful dish.

If we have breastmilk We can, to help the child get used to the taste, add a little in the final shake, making it sweeter and softer. It is a trick that helps children give way to new flavors.

And this dish, with a little salt, is a great first for the rest of the family, so, again, we will learn to take advantage of our time in the kitchen preparing all natural dishes.

We will continue to offer healthy recipes for our babies under one year, easy, cheap, rich and nutritious, as well as adaptable for the family table. I hope that our Special on Infant Feeding in Babies and more of many ideas to cook effortlessly for the little ones in the house.
