Signatures are collected to request that the eight-week paternity leave be retroactive to March 1

The extension of five to eight weeks of the paternity leave will take effect on April 1, if the procedure does not suffer another setback on the road. This is a month later since the Government announced it.

The measure was published in the BOE on March 8 establishing the March 1 as the day of approval of the decree law, so those who were parents and will be during the month of March, will not be able to enjoy those extra weeks. Parents affected by the delay of entry into force, claim to be retroactive.

They do it through a Change.org Petition promoted by Jose Gabriel Higón, from Valencia, who so far it has more than four thousand three hundred signatures.

"The more than 20,000 parents who are going to be affected by the measure of delaying the entry into force of the paternity leave of 8 weeks for 1 month without any reason, since it has already been published in the BOE. We want a modification to be made for the measure to be retroactive since the announcement of the decree on March 1, which is when the relevant amendments to the law were made. "
