Music, sports, games and ecology as the main themes of summer camps

What are your children going to do this summer? Will they stay at home taking advantage of the fact that one of you does not work to intensely enjoy the possibilities offered by the home? Will the grandparents help you take care of the children during working hours? Are you going to sign them up for workshops, summer schools or camps?

20 or 25 years ago it was unthinkable to take the kids to summer activities that did not fulfill a mere didactic or educational function. However, nowadays, many families really need help to take care of children during the months of school vacations, since the parents' rest rarely coincides with that of their children.

Here, in Peques and Más we have already presented some of the options that are available to us (Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente camp, bilingual colonies of the Pyrenees, workshops of the Telefónica Foundation), and we have also talked about 'how to choose the camp of summer'. We even have in our 'Club' the 'Barriguitas scholarships' designed to help cope with the economic expenditure of this type of activities.

Today we are going to focus on some of the latest experiences that we have heard of, and that we think are interesting because they have highly specialized content, and themes that are very much in line with the interests of the children. So We will talk about summer workshops and camps for children who learn music, for those who love Nature or Sport, and also aimed at families who think above all that children need to play. Here we go:

Symphonic Orchestral Meeting (EOS 2012)

The San Jerónimo de Alba de Tormes school (Salamanca) will once again be the headquarters of the Symphonic Orchestral Meeting (EOS 2012) for children and young students of music, which will end with a concert open to the public in which the scores worked during the course will be performed, which this year will focus on the theme Music in court. As a novelty, a Guitar Encounter has been organized in parallel that offers students the possibility to play in an ensemble and, depending on the works, integrate into the orchestra.

The Orchestral Meeting brings together a hundred participants each year. It is aimed at children and young people aged 9 to 18 with knowledge of any of the instruments that make up an orchestra, in this case, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, metal wind, percussion, harp, harmony and composition The work team consists of specialist instrument teachers with extensive pedagogical training and extensive experience in conducting orchestral meetings for more than 10 years. This team is directed and coordinated by the conductor Silvia Sanz Torre, head of the organizing association Talrta Concertante Group

As has been happening for a few years in the Orchestral Meeting, a music student from the Youth Orchestra of El Salvador participates in the course thanks to a scholarship that allows his trip to Spain and his stay in the course. The young scholarship thus has the opportunity to learn about other techniques of study and musical practice, exchange knowledge and, of course, make new friends.

Summer Courses of the Madrid City Council and the Madrid Mountaineering Federation

They are aimed at jyoung people between the ages of 15 and 25 who want to start in Sport Climbing or Mountaineering. They will take place during the months of July and September at the climbing wall of the ROC 30 Federation (Avda. Del Manzanares, 108), and six courses will be taught in sessions of 2/3 hours a day. It will work with a total of 85 young people

Greenpeace camp

Thousands of girls and boys, youth and educators have passed through this camp ..., They have all enjoyed the magic of learning to protect the environment and 'taking action' for a better Planet.

This year two programs will be carried out. One of them thought and specially designed for the little ones, 8 to 11 years old, which will take place in Alborache, Valencia. Enjoying the beauty of these lands and living in the Actio Environmental Education Center a fantastic Bioclimatic building, children will learn about the problems and solutions of our planet, nature and its magic all making many friends.

Youth in Action, 12 to 17 years old They will be in As Corcerizas, an energy island, that works with renewable energies and taking great care with the management of waste, water and maintaining a kitchen free of GMOs. It is managed by Friends of the Earth located in the Sierra de San Mamede, municipality of Arnuíde, Ourense. During the camp we will learn how Greenpeace works, both at the association level and the environmental objectives and the campaigns they carry out.

Greenpeace camps have, as fundamental pillars, peace, tolerance, equality and the struggle for a green future

Camp Between Moms and Froggies

This year, Entre Mamás (Madrid) joins Froggies to launch a unique and special camp, assure the participants abundant doses of fun and good times.

Every week we will go somewhere (to space, to the sea, to the jungle, traveling through Spain, to the North, to the South), which will serve as the backbone of all the activities we will carry out

The activities are raised from the plastic and performing arts, experiments, cooperative and free games, relaxation and cooking. The camp schedule is from 8 to 15 hours and the dates from July 2 to September 7, with the possibility of hiring as many weeks as families need.

If your children go to Camp we hope you enjoy it very much, learn new things and make new friends.
