Kitchens for girls, kitchens for boys

Recently I attended something surprised and with satisfaction gift of a kitchenette for the son of some friends. I loved to see how the "battery" of my daughters 'playmates' toys expanded with this ideal complement for any boy or girl.

Because I imagine that sooner or later these children, like my daughters, will have to start preparing their food or that of their family, and they will see it as normal, for which they are perfectly trained, even if they have to resort to a recipe book as we do many, or give them laziness to cook.

But in how many houses we have seen that cooking is something of women (and how many will continue to be seen), something that passes from generation to generation if other realities are not contemplated, if the context does not encourage you to change it. And when I talk about cooking I could also refer to cleaning, taking care of children or helping them to do their homework.

Playing kitchens in fun for both boys and girls. Despite this, many ads transmit sexist models, and they often sell us toys for boys and girls toys, different toys, so they probably let's see more girls than boys playing with kitchens, on television, in magazines ...

It is clear that it is not the solution to a problem of sexism that still exists in many homes, but it is a little more to normalization, hopefully it will be accompanied with publicity in that regard. Would Ferran Adrià, Carme Ruscalleda or the Arzak play with the kitchens? Anyway, we do not want great chefs, only people who see normal stand before "the stove."

Play with the little ones (mom and dad), who collaborate in the kitchen with the elders, who understand that there are good male and female chefs (why are there so few prestigious chefs?), that they see that there are no toys for boys and girls, it is the best thing for them to accept equality naturally.

There are many ways to do it, but contributing to our children grow up without stereotypes is positive and necessary. By the way, I take the opportunity to launch a petition to the manufacturers: less pink and flowery kitchens, please ...
