Share and Recycle was an initiative solidarity whose main objective was provide toys with a second life. The campaign started with the sending of those toys that could have a second life in the hands of other children. And it is that thanks to the Red Cross collaboration, its centers in Extremadura, Valencian Community, Castilla y León, Aragón, Andalucía, La Rioja, Castilla La Mancha and the Basque Country, will be the recipients of the toys that, after being analyzed by experts, can continue to arouse illusions in the hands of other children .
Children who belong to the most disadvantaged families will be able to have a toy next Christmas through the projects promoted by Red Cross Youth and thanks to the solidarity of all the participants in the campaign Share and Recycle. In the campaign they were collected 16 tons of toys with the collaborating centers of Alcampo, Juguettos and Toys R Us. Among the more than 5,000 toys received, the categories of early childhood, table games Y teddies They are the most numerous.
The most numerous categories are early childhood, with 22% of toys, board games and puzzles with 26% and stuffed animals with 8%. Also in the lots there are dolls, children's books, musical toys, action figures, imitation toys of home and environment, outdoor toys and construction toys.
He 38% of toys collected by Share and Recycle can be reused and enjoy a second life in the hands of other children. In addition, 62% of the remaining materials will be used for recycling, since due to their conditions they have not been considered suitable for use by other children. The plastics they represent the main fraction recovered, followed by other elements such as ferrous materials, paper or cardboard. Each of them will go to the appropriate treatment plants according to their specific treatment needs, with the aim of valuing the recovered materials and that can become part of new industrial processes.
As a concrete example, we can mention the multiple uses of plastics, which are used for purposes as diverse as the manufacture of new electrical and electronic devices, even as everyday items as the hangers that we can find in our cabinets. The recycling of these materials avoids the depletion of the planet's natural resources and contributes to the reduction of pollution that would be assumed by other destinations such as incineration or deposition in landfills.
The initiative is driven by National Radio of Spainfor the campaign A toy An Illusion and aims to deliver as many toys as possible to more children on dates as marked as Christmas, becoming the first campaign to collect toys nationwide.
