  • 4 slices of ciabatta bread, 12 pieces of monkfish or 12 scallops or 12 prawns, 4 tablespoons of pepper jam, 4 teaspoons of mayonnaise

How to make gratin canapés

The technique is very simple. Toasted bread slowly to make it crispy. On the bread a teaspoon of pepper jam, which we can make homemade (500 g of red peppers and 500 g of sugar, letting it cook and crushing well) or we can find it in the supermarket.

On the jam we can put, three bits of fish in each slice, or 3 prawns, 3 pieces of scallop or mixture of each other. On this special occasion and taking into account that during pregnancy the consumption of seafood is usually restricted, we have made an exception for the Christmas gathering, making canapés with three prawns.

We cook the prawns with a little olive oil in the pan and give them the turn when they change color, letting them be made on high heat. Then, we place the prawns or the pieces of fish in each canapé and cover them with a little mayonnaise.

To finish the canapés, we gratin them in the oven at 220º for two or three minutes until the mayonnaise has become a fluffy layer covered with a crispy gold. We bring immediately to the table.
