Every year the Ministry of Health publishes a report on the Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy in Spain and since a few years ago I realized that many women undergo an abortion several times in their lives, from time to time I look at the statistics to see the results.
The data for 2014 are not yet published, so when I wanted to meet you a few days ago I saw that the last report was related to 2013. Again, upon reaching the number of previous abortions I confirmed that it is still happening, that many women abort almost as the one who is going to buy the bread, is that 876 women voluntarily aborted in 2013 for the sixth time.

Well, I say for the sixth time, but they could be more, because in the report we read "5 times or more", which are the times that have already been previously aborted. Eight hundred seventy-six are many women, too many. Okay, we are talking about all of Spain and there are only 876 women of the 108,690 who underwent an abortion, but it is that It's the sixth time!
If we look at more data, we see that 994 aborted for the fifth time, which is also enough to take it into account, 2,771 did it for the fourth time and 8,734 did it for the third time. If we add them all, of the 108,690 women who terminated a pregnancy last year, 13,375 women had aborted at least twice before. It is 12.3%, which in my view is a very high figure.
Reasons to abort for the sixth time
Well, the reasons are complicated to explain, because one can think that it is because they are women with few economic resources, but the figures do not say exactly that. According to the report, of the 876 women who aborted for the sixth time or more, 101 women live alone and have their own income, 63 live alone but have no income, 303 live with the couple and have their own income and 279 live with the couple but do not they have their own income, 38 live with their parents and have their own income and 40 also live with their parents but have no income, 24 women live with other people and have income and 6 live with other people but have no income.
It is true that a woman can have an abortion if she wishes to, because currently the law allows it (and I think it should continue to be allowed), but something is failing if a woman can abort six times. We know that achieving a pregnancy is not easy, or not always. Statistics say that under normal conditions, the chances of getting pregnant with an unprotected relationship is 25%. From this it follows that, to carry out 6 abortions, there are many unprotected relationships.
I say, I am not in favor of abortion, but I am in favor. Now, it is one thing to make use of the possibility of terminating a pregnancy due to a problem, an oversight or after a lot of thinking (which I say that a woman does this many times) and another to abuse the system and, as I say , go to abort as who goes for a walk. In this case it seems to me a lack of respect for the system, a lack of respect for your own body and a lack of respect for those 6 babies that began to beget because they and their partners wanted to.
