A babysitter donates part of her liver to save the life of the girl she was caring for

When for some reason, call yourself work or school, you should leave your children at home, getting a good babysitter can become an odyssey, since it is not easy to find someone to take care of them. You need to find a person who shows seriousness and commitment, take good care of your children and also inspires confidence.

Finding a good babysitter is almost like winning the lottery for some parents. But surely George and Farra Rosko of Jackson, New Jersey they never imagined how lucky they would be to find theirs.

In early 2016, George and Farra received terrible news. His daughter Talia, 16 months old, was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a serious liver disease. Biliary atresia is a congenital disease, in which the bile ducts inside and outside the liver do not develop normally.

Because of this, Talia needed a transplant, but being on the waiting list for organ donation is something that can take months or even years for many patients. But the Rosko got an amazing surprise when Kiersten Miles, her 22-year-old nanny, offered to donate part of her own liver so Talia could survive.

When he first learned about Talia's condition, Kiersten began researching the disease and decided to do something to help him.

"I think I was destined to meet the Rosko. Although I only knew Talia for three weeks when I decided to investigate if I was compatible, I knew I could not do anything. I knew our blood type was compatible and after researching the rest of the process and surgery, I didn't think it was very intense ... It just seemed and still seems like a small sacrifice compared to saving a life"he said in an interview for Babble.

Farra, Talia's mother, couldn't believe it. Your babysitter barely knew the family and although it seemed like a wonderful gesture, I didn't think I was really going to do it. "It's just not something that people do every day"he commented. And without hesitation for a second, Kiersten underwent surgery to donate a part of his liver to little Talia.

Kiersten explains that a part of his liver replaced Talia's. "My liver will eventually grow back to normal size and the part that is now inside Talia will grow with your body"explains the babysitter.

The surgeries of both were successful and for the mother it was wonderful to see her daughter healthy. For its part, Kiersten comments that it was a very emotional moment for her and that she cried with joy when she heard that Talia was well. "When I finally saw Talia after her surgery, I completely forgot about the pain and discomfort I had felt from the surgery and immediately remembered why I had donated it".

A month later, the family is very well and Kiersten hopes that his story, which has now gone viral, inspire others to donate and greater awareness about organ donation is created.
