When I think back to when Jackson was a newborn, I distinctly remember thinking it was the hardest time of my life (read: zero sleep and nursing around the clock) and that I would never be "normal" (read: leave the house by myself) again, but eventually there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Like, phew! I'm gonna make it! And I did! I made it through that difficult newborn stage… and then three more times after that. But what no one ever seems to tell you is that it actually just continues to get harder, and I don't mean that in a bad way, necessarily. It's just that each stage presents different challenges, and once your children can speak, can express their opinions and realize their abilities to test boundaries, it's a whole new ballgame. This is all just to say that every once in awhile I desperately wish I could go back to those no sleep newborn days because they seem so simple now. But really, how could I give up listening to these four discuss Ina and Jeffrey while watching Barefoot Contessa in my bed? #justgoingthrougharoughpatchoverhere #itwillpass #italwaysdoes
