Choosing the name of the future baby is a complicated task and in which parents do not always agree. Sometimes the baby is expected to be born to find the perfect name, and at other times the family chooses it, the coincidences of fate, the trends of that year ... or Facebook followers!
This is what has happened to the future baby of some Arizona parents. The father, admirer of the animated series "Dragon Ball" (Dragon Ball), was challenged by his wife to get 1,000 "likes" in his post to be able to call his son Goku. Said and done. Now the fourth baby of this family It will be called Goku Sánchez.
A challenge that has reached a million and a half likes
Carlos Sánchez is from Arizona, has three children and is a fervent admirer of the Japanese animated series "Dragon Ball". So much so that he dreamed of being able to give his fourth son the name of Goku, protagonist of the series.
So his wife challenged him to post a picture on Facebook and get a million likes. If he did, he would agree to call his baby like that. Carlos published the photograph a week ago on his Facebook profile, where he was seen holding a sign that read: "My wife has told me that if I have a thousand likes, I can call our son Goku"and asked for the collaboration by sharing the image.
In just 24 hours, the publication went viral, exceeding one and a half million likes and being shared by almost 200,000 people, who have helped Carlos reach a challenge that, we assume, his wife believed unattainable.
And so that no one can doubt that the baby will finally be called Goku, Carlos has created a Facebook page called "Awaiting Goku's arrival", where he and his followers leave comments and videos of the curious story of this baby's name.
The baby's name choice
We saw a long time ago that, according to a survey, a fifth of parents regret in some way the name they gave their children and even avoid calling them in public. In addition, they verify that if they could choose again they would be given other names.
Choosing a child's name is more important than we think, and sometimes there have even been situations in which judges have had to intervene to prohibit parents from calling their babies as they intended.
And it is that the right of the parents to choose the name of their baby is subject to some legal limits, since a bad exercise of this freedom, sometimes thoughtless or arbitrary, could affect the dignity of the newborn.
In this specific case We do not know if the parents will finally implement what was promised in their challenge and if so, we will not know if the child will feel comfortable with his name or if, on the contrary, the parents will eventually regret the choice in the future.
In any case, I consider that choosing the name of a baby should obey other criteria more sensible and rational than winning a challenge of this nature through Facebook. Don't you think?
