A boy saves a classmate who choked, thanks to a documentary he saw at home

A few days ago I shared in an article the fantastic initiative to teach children first aid and CPR, so they know how to act in case of an emergency. I think that many times we focus only on learning it when we are adults and being able to apply it in case of emergency, but it would probably be a good idea for children to be aware of this as well.

And a recent news, in which A child knew how to act when a classmate choked, shows us that the children know about this could save a life.

Benjamin Ford is a boy from Virginia, United States, who was a normal day at school during break time. Everything was going normal until he saw a classmate start choking on her food, short of breath and starting to get purple. Fortunately, Benjamin knew how to act and immediately went to the rescue of his partner.

According to an interview they did on a local newscast, Benjamin knew what to do immediately to help him, thanks to a documentary he saw at home with his mother a few years ago. "I felt that I should hurry up and get to her, I really wasn't thinking. I just approached to help him. Because I thought that in a few more seconds, maybe I could not save"says Benjamin.

Benjamin's act not only shows us the will to help in him, but the importance of children knowing the techniques necessary to help others in case of emergency. Some time ago we shared the story of a boy who saved his brother by practicing CPR after having seen cardiorespiratory maneuvers in a movie.

In both cases, the children knew how to act because they saw it on television, now imagine if we teach our children first aid and CPR as part of their education. Sure is something to reflect on. Congratulations to these little great heroes!
