Oral rehydration to save children's lives

In many countries children are victims of diseases such as acute diarrhea. At present, this disease is the cause of almost 2 million infant deaths and most of these deaths are due to dehydration.

In an attempt to reduce these figures, a new formula composed of glucose and sodium has been developed that allows a oral rehydration of the child.

The World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund have worked together on this oral rehydration formula that, it promises, will save hundreds of thousands of children. Through it they hope to reduce infant mortality by two thirds. The formula in question allows faster absorption of fluids by decreasing the use of intravenous sera. This formula is absorbed in the small intestine by restoring water lost in the body. But by itself, this formula does not work, it must be combined with a good diet.

The most helpless countries are those that suffer the most from infant mortality, we must all contribute our grain of sand so that this circumstance is reduced and in the future it ends up disappearing. The humanitarian conscience of each country, of each politician, citizen, etc., must wake up.
