Children prefer new technologies to television

For the third year in a row, the television audience for the little ones has dropped, the Spanish children watch almost 20 minutes of television less than eight years ago.

The consoles, internet and mobile phones are the current leisure preferences among the child population and much of the fault is the poor programming for this sector of the population.

The data provided by the Multimedia Corporation show that children from 4 to 12 years old, last year watched TV about 140 minutes a day, 2 minutes less than the previous year and thus has been reduced to 18 minutes less than seen now with respect to 8 years ago. These data coincide with a study that the University of Navarra presented a few months ago, children prefer interactive electronic entertainment to watch television. In this regard, the new children's leisure could put many parents at a disadvantage according to Professor Xavier Bringué, as many parents are unaware of new technologies and cannot exercise their educational role in this field.

Personally, we think that internet consumption, always controlled by a senior, can be much more educational than most programs that children can currently watch on television, as well as the educational and strategy games they can find with consoles, but As parents, we must not forget that children have to devote part of their leisure time to activities that do not have them sitting in a chair and that foster sociability.
