The majority of mothers who have had pregnancy problems due to tobacco do not cheat and relapse again in the habit of smoking in a second pregnancy

To say that humans are the only "animals" that stumble twice with the same stone is a great truth and we could even add up to three. Sometimes, when a mother has had some problems during pregnancy caused by tobacco, a premature birth, the birth of a dead baby or the dreaded sudden death, it has not been an impediment of consistency so that in a second pregnancy, the future Mom consider the problems that occurred during the first pregnancy and automatically quit smoking.

This is what emerges from a study prepared by Dr. Sven Cnattingius and his team at the Karolinska Institutet, located in Stockholm (Sweden). A study was carried out on almost 100,000 women who had two pregnancies and who smoked when during the first pregnancy. The data is so unfortunate that we refer to the conclusion with which we started the post, Up to 70% of women who smoked during the first pregnancy did so during the second. In addition, it seems that the cultural level is related to this situation, since researchers indicate that mothers with less education and those who were younger again fell into the habit of smoking, large smokers did too, although the latter were I could wait for the roots of smoking in them.

Having pregnancy complications due to some unhealthy habit should be a strong motivation not to fall back on the same problem, we are not talking about banal issues or mere problems, we are talking about a potential risk for a new life. It is necessary to place greater emphasis on everything that is related to the health of the future baby, greater awareness of the possible consequences and a great poise to recognize and change the way to proceed.
