Breastfeeding does not prevent obesity

A year ago, our partner Eliana informed us of a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, in this study they showed us that breastfeeding did not prevent childhood obesity. Now a new study prepared by the Harvard Medical School of the United States, it seems to corroborate the study that we mentioned before.

The new study has taken the data of 35,526 nurses (something that we do not understand very well, since the most logical thing would be to have also used male people), the data that mainly refer to the body mass they presented, were checked against the information what the mothers of these nurses provided about their breastfeeding periods and how the girls were at certain ages in terms of height, weight, etc. In total, data were taken for a period of 12 years. The conclusions indicated that there was no relationship between adult body mass with breastfeeding time, they only revealed a small fact, breastfeeding of more than six months duration caused the child at 5 years to be thinner (it is also not very Understandably, this could be due to the fact that children at that age begin to be moviditos and may be one of the reasons they seem somewhat thinner).

A final conclusion is what the researchers show, obesity is not solved with breastfeeding, anyway, it would be interesting to study it more and better, in fact, statistical data is the first step to deepen and obtain scientific data. You can access the study data in the International Journal of Obesity digital publication.
