To give birth without epidural, advance or retreat?

It seems to be the latest fashion in giving birth without anesthesia, from my point of exaggeration to the limit of natural childbirth.

In the past, women gave birth in their homes to live pain because there were no resources as effective as there are today.

But fortunately for many, the advances of current medicine allow women to have the possibility of living fully the birth of our children thanks to the blessed epidural.

It is one thing to give up the epidural for recognizing the limits of pain itself, for having phobia of needles or for having had a bad experience, but the rest is in my view an apology of misunderstanding natural childbirthWho likes to suffer, who likes to feel unnecessary pain? No woman is more mother to bear the birth pains that could be avoided.

Honestly, I am totally in favor of the new birth modalities that tend to have a more humanized and less medicalized birth, but both can be combined, taking advantage of the best of each method.

Yes, let's go back to a birth in which women have the right to choose the most comfortable posture to give birth, in which routine episiotomy is avoided and in which we are sure that every effort will be made to avoid unnecessary caesarean section, but not We turn our backs on the facilities we have at our fingertips so that this moment is unique.

When not many years ago it was claimed to generalize the use of the epidural in the maternity wards, in this new display of non-medicalized delivery, the abnormality will be to ask for it.

Epidural analgesia has been a breakthrough, let's not go back. It is true that there are alternative treatments to relieve the pain of childbirth but they depend on the effect they have on each organism and are not as effective as the epidural.

Like everything else, I believe that no extreme is good and I welcome above all the right to choose. I certainly join the epidural thanks to which I have had two wonderful births. Have you given or would you give birth without anesthesia?
