Mommy, daddy, today I cook

On many occasions we have commented on the need to promote good eating habits in parents to transmit it to their children, it is not the fault of the little ones not to receive a good educational base in relation to health and nutrition, in many cases the Parents do not have the appropriate knowledge to provide them, in fact, they are very responsible for the growing overweight or childhood obesity.

The campaigns launched by the central government and regional governments, associations, schools, etc., already show us the need to educate the elderly first or do it together with their children, proof of this is the initiative of the City of León, Paradores de Tourism and Social Work of Caja España, which will start the program next month "Mommy, daddy, I cook today".

This project that seeks to raise awareness about the need to maintain good eating habits to enjoy a good state of health, will be enjoyed by about 50 families, mother or father and children, which from November 5 to 17 From January 2008, twice a week they will attend classes taught by several chefs and students of the Parador School, which will last an hour and a half and introduce the attendees in nutrition and cooking. The importance of not skipping any meal will be entered, let alone the first of the day, breakfast, the properties of the different food groups, the differences between white or red meat, the blue fish, etc., will be better known.

They will also learn the different cooking methods for each food, recipes that go from canned jams or compotes, through first and second dishes and also desserts.

It is undoubtedly an interesting program, in which, in addition to promoting healthy nutritional habits, it is shared as a family how fun cooking is and what you can enjoy preparing the food that will dress our table and conquer our palate, an initiative that should be available to everyone, right ?.
