Apparently, the parents of a Muslim family residing in Premià de Dalt, a town in the province of Barcelona, intended to have an ablation of the clitoris performed on their daughters aged 6 and 13. Thanks to the suspicions of the social services of the town hall of this town and its subsequent complaint in court, custody of girls to parents has been temporarily withdrawn.
The parents now deny this procedure, but we believe that in principle they had that intention although after what happened, they have stopped. This situation opens a debate, should the tradition and customs of other countries brought to our country be respected, these being sometimes an aberration for us? We believe that no, it is not about respect, in fact this way of proceeding is an insult to the feminine condition and a total macho behavior, here and in any country.
Recall that the ablation of the clitoris consists in its surgical removal, it is a female genital mutilation associated mainly with religious and cultural reasons. Fortunately, this practice is prohibited in many countries and it is useless to argue religious reasons.
