In Peru and other countries with lower socioeconomic development, they have very high mortality figures of women and / or children during childbirth. Sanitary conditions are lower, many women give birth at home and have to manage as they can to try to make everything go well.
To try to solve an issue as important as this, which also estimates the health quality of a country, the Peruvian Ministry of Health is carrying out a program to reduce these figures. The main star of this project is to encourage vertical births, in addition to encouraging women to give birth in health centers and abandon the practice of giving birth at home.
In this country, the death rate is 185 women for every 100,000 births, mainly due to hemorrhages, while in developed countries it is 20. It is intended to reduce this figure in 2015 by more than double. Apparently, already in indigenous paintings on vases and pieces, these types of births were reflected, both standing and sitting. By having the force of gravity, they could be more physiological, in addition to being shorter and requiring less effort. The pressure suffered by the uterus decreases, allowing blood and oxygen to reach the child better.
Among the measures that are being taken to encourage Peruvians, they include welcoming the woman's family in the maternity homes (including the animals) to wait while she is giving birth and allow them to keep their dresses during childbirth. Medicinal herbs are also administered to induce labor.
