Eight out of ten parents do not know how long their children watch TV

I must confess that this news is not surprising to me, which does not mean that I am not worried. And it is that the time that parents dedicate to (share with) our children today is often reduced to a minimum, which means that they fill their time in many ways, some less fortunate than others.

That TV is one of the biggest "substitutes" of company is no secret, and this despite the fact that excessive television consumption can report many negative effects. Therefore the fact that 8 out of ten families are unaware of the time their children spend in front of the television I find it worrisome.

These are data extracted from the Disney Channel study on television consumption habits, which Lola told us yesterday. Specifically, the data indicates that 79% of Spanish families He doesn't know how much time his children spend in front of the TV.

This figure seems somewhat contradictory to the fact that 71% of parents ensure that they supervise the programs their children see, since this can hardly be done by not being with them. Otherwise, I do not explain how they do not know the hours dedicated to television. How do I monitor the content and not the time?

Anyway, as I have indicated on other occasions, I consider that television can be a good companion in family and / or on specific occasions. The entertainment and teachings they can provide to the whole family could be beneficial, in the right doses.
