Soon the V Spanish Congress of Breastfeeding. It will be held from March 5 to 7 at the Víctor Villegas Auditorium and Congress Center in Murcia. The Spanish Breastfeeding Congress was held for the first time in 2001. Since then, it has established itself as a space for debate, exchange and learning.
For three days, in addition to the presentation of the latest developments in the field, colloquiums, workshops and sessions will be organized where experiences will be exchanged and best practices will be known during the period of feeding with breast milk.
The largest experts in breastfeeding will meet in Congress. Among the international guests we highlight Jack Newman, who will talk about breast tissue infections and nipple injuries. Among the Spaniards will be Dr. Concha de Alba, Dr. Gomez Papi and Dr. Jose Maria Paricio, some of the doctors who are doing more to promote breastfeeding in our country.
The topics to be treated are very interesting since it is expected that they serve to improve the nursing training of the assistants and, thus, better serve mothers with doubts and problems. Some of the topics to be discussed will be the Hospital Amigos de los Niños or the Mother's Milk Banks, as well as questions about the best position to breastfeed or the mother-child bond.
Undoubtedly, the development of new research and sharing is essential. Many lactations are abandoned, having really small breastfeeding rates in Spain, which affects the health of mothers and children in a negative way.
