Bolivia takes a big step in protecting parents

Bolivia has given a big step in protecting parents. A new decree that prevents parents from being fired if their partner is expecting a child. The news has seemed to me of extraordinary interest and, without a doubt, an example for our richest countries that both presume to protect the rights of workers and families.

The decree promulgated, within the framework of the new Constitution of Bolivia, guarantees the right of men not to lose their job and not suffer salary reductions if they expect a baby or if they have a child under one year.

I do not know the employment situation in that country, but even in Spain, where we have a correct social and labor protection, the crisis takes a toll on families. Losing work when a baby is going to be born can be a terrible situation for the economic and emotional stability of the family. However, the initiative that has been adopted in Bolivia here would be unthinkable.

Undoubtedly, nuances of a political nature, this measure should become an example for our legislators, since it is, above all, people and especially children, who must be cared for. Bolivia It has given us the key to continue advancing in the family protection.
