Christmas activities for children in Madrid

Like every year when these dates arrive, parents look for educational leisure options for our children.

In Madrid there are many activities aimed at children to do on Christmas holidays. Museums, parks, theaters and cultural centers launch events for children taking advantage of the school break.

Both for those who live in Madrid and for those who come to visit the city there are entertaining and educational proposals, some for very little money, which in these times is not bad. I tell you some:

Christmas camps in Faunia

As every year, Faunia has organized the Urban Christmas Camps for children between 3 and 5 years old. They last 3 or 4 days and aim to bring nature to children in a fun and enjoyable way. They are on December 28, 29, 30 and 31 and January 4, 5, 7 and 8 from 9 to 16 hours.

Every day a different activity is carried out such as "Enjoy with the senses", "Journey to Antarctica", "Journey to Prehistory" and "Discover the Amazon" where you can see how animals are fed and learn more about various species that inhabit Faunia.

In addition, it has a nursery, dining and transportation service to make things easier for working parents.

On Faunia's website you can find more information about camps, prices and a registration form to fill out.

Faunia also offers the School without school service with workshops for children between 3 and 13 years old on December 23 and 24.

Christmas campaign in Cosmocaixa Madrid

The social work La Caixa has prepared an agenda of activities for the little ones in Cosmocaixa. The majority are for children over three years old and others for somewhat older children. There will be storytelling, experiment workshop, theater shows and even astronomical observation. Each event has a very accessible price of 2.50 or 3 euros.

In addition, those who attend the Christmas campaign events after 5:30 pm can enter the museum for free and visit the exhibitions.

You can see all the activities they propose and more interesting facts on the Cosmocaixa website

Also tell you that in CaixaForum Madrid there are a lot of very interesting family activities such as visiting Nativity scenes, a cycle of family concerts and family art activities.

Jurassic World

From December 17, 2009 to February 22, 2010 you can meet The 34 Jurassic World Robotized Dinosaur Replies on the esplanade of the King's Bridge. Children love dinosaurs and will have the opportunity to see tyrannosaurs, velociraptors and diplodocus as if they were real.

It is the largest dinosaur exhibition in the world and has already visited many international cities. The star of the exhibition is a Tyrannosaurus Rex over 14 meters long and 7 meters high. Children under 3 years are free and between 3 and 12 years, admission costs 4 euros.

A companion of Peques and more has attended the exhibition with her children and tells us her impressions on the blog.

Disney Live! Mickey's favorite stories

In the Municipal Palace of Congresses of the Field of Nations of Madrid From December 18 to January 10, Disney Live! Mickey's favorite stories, a show of great quality, in the style that Disney productions have accustomed us.

Children can see their favorite characters live, the protagonists of the stories they know as Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast or Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Together with them, Minnie and Mickey, Donald and Goofy invite viewers to enter a fantasy world. This type of shows does not disappoint, although tickets are usually veneers. They can be purchased at El Corte Inglés.

Theater for babies and children at the Fernán Gómez Theater

On holiday there are several theater shows for children in Madrid, but I want to recommend two works that premiere at the Fernán Gómez Theater. One is "The toy box" a musical full of tenderness, surprises and humor with actors, puppets and Debussy music. The second is "On the tip of the tongue", a show for children from 0 to 5 years based on the musical babble of babies with music by Verdi, Puccini and Bellini.

You can find more information about the shows, prices and schedules on the official website of the theater.

This is my selection of proposals to do with children in Madrid at Christmas. I hope you like them and enjoy them with your children.
