Choose the name of the twins

If it's hard to find a name for a baby, imagine for two. Choose the name of the twins It is not an easy task. Keep in mind that the name must identify them as unique individuals and allow the twins to be distinguished from each other.

Each child has their own personality and it is important that the name contributes to reinforcing that individuality. But at the same time, in the case of two children you have to think that the names "combine" and sound good one after the other, because most of the time you will pronounce them together.

If you are expecting two babies (or more) take good note of some tips for choosing the name of the twins.

  • Because of the similarity in pronouncing them and the high probability of suffering confusion, names that have the same termination are not recommended as for example: Daniel and Miguel, Mariana and Adriana or Lucía and María. You run the risk of spending your whole life repeating them or being told "who did you call?", Or "I thought you called me."
  • Nor is it advisable, in the case of a boy and a girl, to choose the same name in male and female versions like Mario and Maria. They tend to look like a unit.
  • Avoid names with assonant rhyme such as Amanda and Angela. Although it may seem funny at first that the names sound similar, in the long run it is confusing. Think about everyday situations, when children go to school. Friends, relatives and teachers tend to forget what name goes with each child. Let's not even talk if they also look a lot physically.
  • It would not be more appropriate to opt for names with similar meaning such as Soledad and Dolores, Natalia and Natividad, or Clara and Alba. Nor are flower names like Violeta and Margarita, nor colors like Blanca and Rosa.
  • If the father or mother desperately wishes that one of the children bears his name, think about the impact it may have on the brother not to bear it. Even more so if we talk about two boys or two girls.
  • Avoid names that begin with the same initial. For practical purposes (documentation, records, identification), it is not the most convenient.
  • Before making a decision, repeat the names aloud several times and reverse the order to verify that they sound good together, no matter which one is said first.
  • Finally, it is important that each of your children (whether two, three or more) feel that their name has been chosen especially with love and enthusiasm.
