Special Infant feeding: recipes for children from three years

We continue with our Special on Infant Feeding in Babies and more, in which we will prepare some recipes for children from three years. These are simple dishes that the whole family will really enjoy.

Last week we saw in the recipes for children between two and three years old that at this age they can almost eat everything, and from three years old the usual thing is that the children already eat the same as the rest of the family.

We want to propose Homemade, cheap and tasty ideas to cook your children, also with a simple preparation that will not take us long. A plate of chicken and another of sepia, to go around the farm and another by the sea, for all tastes. Children (and elders) will love these dishes.

We do not specify amounts because we believe that at home you know how much your children and yourselves eat. But, to give our example, and as for the main ingredients, we need three chicken thighs or two large cuttlefish to eat in each case two adults and two girls of four and two years.

Chicken drumsticks battered with sesame

We love this recipe at home. If you want to give a special touch to that food so recurrent that is chicken, you just have to batter it with sesame and you will have a taste and texture that kids love. However, remember that sesame is a dry fruit, and as such, we must be sure that no one in the family suffers allergic reaction to these seeds.

Once it is clear that there is no allergy, we must know that sesame seeds are very good for children, they are a very important source of iron and calcium. We use toasted sesame seeds sold in sachets, although they can be bought raw.

If you buy the sesame seeds to make at home they will be soaked the night before. Then they are roasted in a pan for about 10 minutes, stirring them so they don't burn. exist sesame varieties of various colors, clear and black, if we want to make the chicken visually more attractive we can mix them.

Chicken thighs must be boneless and open, to make it faster and easier to make them grilled. We have to salt the meat in moderation, remember that we eat too much salt and that is not good for any family member. If you like it, the elderly can give a touch of pepper to the meat.

We can only add sesame so that the meat is battered. There are those who batter it directly, and the seeds stick quite well. We can also pass the meat through a beaten egg before batting them in sesame. Sesame can be added breadcrumbs to make the batter more consistent.

Once we have chicken thighs open and passed through the egg and coated with sesame, we can cook them in the oven or grilled with a little oil in the pan. Both in the iron and in the oven you have to turn the meat so that it is done perfectly on both sides.

This recipe can also be made with chicken breast and other fine meats, although in our opinion they are less juicy than the thighs. If we have time, both the thighs and other parts of the chicken can be cut into smaller pieces, cubes or strips, if we want to make "sesame chicken snacks".

This dish to be balanced lacks a good side dish of roasted potatoes and vegetables to taste.

Cuttlefish stew

We now turn to a more sailor dish We also eat often at home. It is an easy recipe, and quick if we use the express pot (over low heat it will take just over an hour, until the cuttlefish is tender).

For this dish we have to take into account that sepia is a shellfish, from the mollusc family, and as such it can be allergenic. The age of introduction of shellfish in the child's diet varies from one specialist to another. But in general, after two years they are accepted.

We bought the frozen cuttlefish and let it thaw the night before in the bottom of the fridge. We will cut the cuttlefish into squares or strips, the legs included. We will also put a few peeled prawns (serve as mentioned above regarding seafood) and chopped almonds. With regard to almonds, which give a special touch to the recipe, we remember that it is a dry fruit and we will only add them if nobody at home is allergic.

The stew is completed with potato, onion and peas. Potato and onion and even the cuttlefish pieces can be fried with a little sweet paprika to color the stew.

Adding water and a little white wine, everything can be cooked at the same time in the pressure cooker for half an hour, with a pinch of salt. It will be better for the elderly to add more salt to our dishes later if we consider it necessary, but it is good for children to get used to eating with little salt, and they will not miss it.

We hope you are recipes for children from three years they have been appealing, I encourage you to try them, you will see that they are simple and rich. We will be back soon with new ideas. Bon Appetite!
