The composer of many children's film soundtracks Robert Sherman has died

He has died American composer Robert Sherman at 86 years old in London. As we can read in the press, with his brother Richard he composed the soundtrack of numerous children's films of the 60s, 70s and 80s, decade in which he made Winnie the Pooh dance, a bear that although not very famous in Spain, in the rest of the world has many followers. Robert Sherman has appeared on television these days with images of the music of Mary Poppins, a wonderful and eternal film for children and adults that was filmed in 1964.

But Sherman, with his brother, made many more compositions. In the video shown on YouTube, you can watch the song of "scales and arpeggios" of the masterpiece that is Los Aristogatos, an animated film made in 1970 with beautiful drawings, with a theme that introduces rich and poor cats and a very bad guy who behaves fatally with poor kittens. I love it because the character of the arrabalero cat, Thomas O'Malley, advances the story by helping the beautiful Duchess kitten.

I remember watching this movie many times when my daughter was very young, I think she won't remember now. The three kittens, Marie, Berlioz and Toulouse live very fun and exciting adventures with O'Malley and his band of friends who play Jazz. A great musical contrast that goes from this serene composition that we present with the elegant piano to the shameless orchestra formed by street cats. Apparently the entire soundtrack of The Aristocats is from the Sherman brothers except the song used to present the cat Thomas O'Malley.

You can take a look on the Internet and discover more eternal musical moments of this great artist, Oscar winner best soundtrack and best song by Mary Poppins in 1964. It will be a nice tribute to someone who made the music of many of the Disney movies and who taught us to appreciate his compositions in a time when music was perfectly linked and part of the story.
