Textbooks will be free in Madrid from the next course: how to participate in the loan program

From the next school year 2019-2020, students of Primary Education, ESO, Basic Vocational Training and Special Education, may participate in the ACCEDE book loan program, launched in the Community of Madrid in all public schools and concerted that wish to adhere.

To participate in this program it is necessary for the student to register in advance, and commit to take care of the books and curriculum material used throughout this course. These books will be delivered to the center at the end of the academic year, and in return They will receive the necessary material for the next course free of charge.

Conditions and requirements for the loan of books

Some schools in the Community of Madrid have already begun to inform families of the conditions of the ACCEDE Program, by means of which Primary, ESO and Basic Vocational students of all educational centers held with public funds, may have free books and curriculum material that they need for the next academic year 2019-2020.

Participation is voluntary, and family income will not be taken into account To be a beneficiary of this service. But to adhere, the following requirements must be met:

  • In case of applying for the program but changing schools next year, the student will receive a certificate from their center to apply for the loan of books in the new school in which they enroll.

During this course, the ACCEDE program has met the needs of disadvantaged families. But from next year 2019-2020, any family can participate in the loan program.

Each school will create a bank of books that will be supervised and managed by a commission dependent on the school board, and by a commission to monitor the Administration.

Students who adhere to the program, they should be responsible for their books and material, take care of them and deliver them at the end of the course in perfect conditions. If the child loses the borrowed books or the Management Committee considers that they have suffered some kind of deterioration due to misuse, the student will be obliged to replace them.

What kind of books and material will be provided?

The teaching material to be provided Following the ACCEDE program is classified in:

  • Textbooks in printed format.

  • Textbooks in digital form, including access to digital platforms. The digital books that are available online, must allow downloading to a computer or tablet, so that students can have them without the need for a network connection.

  • Curriculum material, such as atlases, reading books, exercise books, audiovisual media and scientific instruments, newspapers, magazines or periodicals.

  • Own curriculum material designed by teachers or other teaching professionals, in print, audiovisual or digital media.

The program contemplates the management and renovation of the book bank of all the centers, the replacement of them, the possible difference in the number of students in each course or the justified causes of deterioration of the books.

In general, the books will be renewed every four school courses, with the exception of the textbooks and curricular material of the first and second of Primary Education, and those of Special Education, which will be renewed every school year.

An important saving for families

The ACCEDE program, in addition to providing financial support for families, with savings per child and a course of between 250 and 300 euros, aims to educate students on the importance of take care of the material and value the investment which is carried out in their education, promoting solidarity between partners and sustainable development.
