'Kipling Ilustrado' awarded in the category of children's and youth books of the 2011 National Edition Award

Kipling Illustrated ", published by Kalandraka, has just received the First National Edition Award 2011 in the category of Children and Youth Books.

The edition of "Kipling Illustrated" emerged from the homonymous exhibition organized by the Valencian Museum of Illustration and Modernity (MUVIM) in February 2011, coinciding with the year in which the 75th anniversary of the death of the British writer was celebrated. The work gathers seven stories of Rudyard Kipling (Bombay, 1865-London, 1936) illustrated by seven leading plastic artists of the current graphic panorama: Ajubel, Pablo Amargo, Isidro Ferrer, Pep Montserrat, Pablo Auladell, Paco Giménez and Arnal Ballester.

Kipling became the first English writer awarded, in 1907, with the Nobel Prize for Literature. Although imperialist ideas, was characterized by being a critical character and committed to his time. His deep literary background was joined by his traveling desire and his ability to observe, which he expressed in "luminous and fascinating stories"

The award given to the work has been granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, and implies that the distinguished work will participate in the institutional actions to promote the book, exhibiting in the main national and international fairs. "Kipling Illustrated" was one of the 251 titles valued by the jury of the contest.

The book is completed with articles by several experts who reflect on Kipling's literary legacy and analyze the close relationship between Letters and Art.

This award thus adds to Other National Awards obtained by books from the Kalankdraka catalog, from "The Little White Rabbit" (National Illustration Prize 1999) to "Diogenes" and "Miguel Hernández, 25 illustrated poems", which received the Third Prize in the Children-Youth and Art categories, respectively, in the previous edition of 2010.
