Prevent domestic accidents and react to them safely

They tell us from the Spanish Red Cross that in our country they occur annually more than a million and a half of domestic accidents or during free time. Precisely on this issue the campaign 'at home love you very much' is developed

It is important that we be aware of the need to prevent these situations especially when there are children at home. And this is because kids are among the most vulnerable groups, along with women and the elderly. It is easier to raise public awareness when simple advice and action guidelines are offered, so that we all immerse ourselves in a true 'preventive culture' of accidents.

How to warn the dangers and act accordingly?

That's why at the Red Cross they tell us that AVA behavior (easy to remember and apply) helps prevent, because it is aimed at TOreverse the risk, Vaddress possible hazards, and TODopting a safe attitude.

It is about being aware of all the risk situations that exist in our homes, and adopting the appropriate security measures in the activities we carry out

It is necessary to adopt a "PROACTIVE" attitude, of constant observation, that allows us be alert to possible dangerous situations, and react correctly in case we are faced with a risk situation, so that it does not lead to an accident.

Falls, blows against objects, cuts, burns, poisoning, foreign bodies and asphyxiation are, in this order, the main injuries that take place in the home

Accident Action

But when an accident happens we must not lose our temper (something difficult but not impossible when it comes to close beings. The action scheme is specified in the call 'PAS conduct' (Protect, Warn and Help).

A large part of the accidents that occur at home can be solved if we have a basic knowledge of first aid. Although if we believe it necessary or we feel insecure, we will ask for help, and in case the situation is serious, We will call 112 or go to the nearest health center (as we create it).

You will find here more detailed guidelines for proper action in case of choking, falls and bumps, cuts and wounds, bleeding, poisoning, burns, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid kit. And also a simple survey to find out if our home is safe.

Accidents can and should be avoided, it is our responsibility, as it is to act calmly if it occurs.
