The cage for children, an invention that did not succeed

When you enter a childcare store you realize that there are countless items for babies, mothers and fathers. Some are useful and almost necessary, others are practical and that is why they are also sold and others are unnecessary and unhelpful, but they are still for sale because there is always someone who stings and buys them.

Finally, it could be said that there are those who do not sell or have withdrawn from the sale because they simply do not succeed, as is the case with the cage for children, which is nothing other than what you see in the images: a cage that is placed in the window to have more space at home and leave the baby out.

The cage was designed by Emma Read in 1922, the year the patent dates, and the goal of the cage was to offer the baby the benefits of living abroad, but indoors.

At that time it was said that it was beneficial for babies to spend time outside. Now it goes on saying, because it is certainly recommended that the sun sets, that they breathe outside air, that they do not spend much time locked up, that they be stimulated, etc.

The problem is that leaving a child in a device that hangs from a window, no matter how certain, I don't see it. I don't see it now and I guess few people saw it on that date, because the invention did not succeed.

The designer, aware that in terms of health parents were told that they would have better health outdoors, and aware that there were more and more families living on floors where there were no balconies or terraces, and that they could even be far from the parks for babies and children to play, he thought it might be a good idea to add the floor by opening the window and allowing the children to be outside.

In fact, I was so convinced in his invention that he even added some curtains and covers so that, if the child fell asleep, he was safe from the wind or other weather agents.

Anyway, I think that by looking at the photos and thinking about those people who live in a fourth or fifth floor we all come quickly to the conclusion that the baby cage is more scary than anything else and that few parents would dare to do something like that with our children (and beware, that more than one baby would surely like it).
