We play it safe! ' It is the title of the school agenda distributed by the Traffic Department of the Basque Country

We play it safe! ' (Seguru jokatzen dugu!) It is the title that appears in the school agenda distributed by the Traffic Department of the Basque Country in Euskadi schools. As in other courses, this 2012-2013 school year, children of Basque schools will find tips to improve your own road safety.

The messages used in the school agenda address the fundamental aspects that children find to safely travel the streets of towns and cities. And so they delve into the means of transport that are their own: walk on the street, go by bike, skate, travel by bus, etc.

The guide transfers content to students using synthetic messages that go directly to its objective: raise awareness from an early age in the observance of the rules and respect towards coexistence.

Our companions of Safe Circulation Blog Send us a few fundamental messages structured by topics:

Children's tips for walking on the street

The child as a pedestrian and as a risk group in urban traffic. In this section, they present advice aimed at stimulating the child's sense of observation, as well as his critical point of view towards the surrounding environment.

  • Never cross in front of the bus, take your precautions. The safest is undoubtedly the crosswalk.
  • Green traffic light! I look to one side and the other side and then step carefully.
  • Go to the parrot, do things well, that exits and entrances in garages can sometimes be very dangerous.
  • Children's tips for cycling

Many councils launched by the Traffic Department of the Basque Country try to get better bicycle drivers, working especially on the purely normative aspect, but also the issue of respect for others.

  • Learn two recipes: "Pedestrians on the sidewalk, bike lanes, bicycles."
  • On the bike I'm sure, I enjoy two wheels, I circle the places, always without headphones!
  • It will avoid many evils by cycling respecting the signs.
  • Children's tips to go by bus

There are several messages that explain the bus trips, and include aspects as fundamental as the waiting time at the stop, where the child must understand the importance of not confusing the place with a playground and respect when riding in the vehicle. We add to this list an essential point in the child's mobility both by bus and on board a car: the use of the belt or the restraint system that corresponds to it, depending on its size and weight.

  • This is more than a lesson: as soon as you get in the car, first the belt.
  • It is the most appropriate option to wait at the stop.
  • To go up and down do it without pushing respecting our turn and doing it one by one.
  • The bus has reached its destination point; Stop and go from behind and I'm on my way.
  • Children's advice on urbanity

And it's no use working the Vial education if we do not link it with what is its base: the education in values, urbanity. In that sense, the agenda includes two relevant tips: one that affects the game and another that deals with a more than everyday situation when the child walks down the street.

  • Skating is a pleasure when the site is suitable.
  • Be careful and don't fail to keep the streets clean.
  • We find some very interesting tips that take advantage of the support in an elegant way to spread their messages in aspects that the kids will appreciate knowing and applying always, especially when they grow up.
