This week many professionals in the treatment and protection of minors, and we hope that the media also have an important appointment. It is celebrated between October 17 and 19 the XI International Congress of Battered Children, under the motto "Building bridges between research and practice".
The Federation of Associations for the Prevention of Child Abuse (FAPMI) has been organizing the State Congress of Battered Children since 1998 on a biannual basis. Oviedo has been the city chosen for the celebration of the XI edition, which acquires international character for the first time.
The Congress is being organized together with the Asturian Association for Child Care and Care (ASACI), and the motto "Building bridges between research and practice" It raises the relationship between research and practice in child protection. They stand out among their objectives:
Build a meeting forum between the main Spanish research groups and the political, technical and professional leaders involved in child protection programs and their related systems.
To present some representative international experiences of research in evaluation of especially effective programs and review the main research carried out in Spain on effective and efficient interventions in child protection.
Present examples of innovative and scientifically based programs developed by both public administrations and private entities.
Encourage the participation of professionals, entities and young researchers through communications and posters about experiences and scientific works.
One day before the congress begins, an international seminar will be held in the Aula Magna of the Historic Building of the University of Oviedo entitled "Building bridges between research and practice for the prevention of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents".
We hope to hear a lot about this International Congress of Battered Children, about its development, its claims and conclusions over the next few days, as it is necessary to continue advancing in the visibility of child abuse, awareness of its seriousness and the fulfillment and extension of children's rights.
