'Dir Imatges' is a project full of emotions and facilitator of inclusion

During this month of October, the maternal and child hospital Sant Joan de Déu (Barcelona), it hosts a beautiful photographic exhibition full of images that speak for themselves, and poetic messages.

There are forty photographs of Daniel Vasco's work, and poems written by Rafa Ibáñez, both are teachers of the Guru School of Special Education. 'Dir Imatges' collects a total of 40 images of children affected by some type of generalized developmental disorder, which are exposed in the corridor near the hospital cafeteria. The exhibition has already been present in other places such as the Can Castelló civic center, and in November it will be installed in the Cotxers de Borrell civic center in Barcelona.

The authors pretend 'approaching everyday life, a school of people with special educational needs'. Thus, if we have the opportunity to observe these photographs, we can see children full of vitality or sadness, happy or indolent ... 'more or less as it happens to all of us, which are known as normal'.

Here we leave this humble legacy: their varied looks, the wind of their careers, the peace of a caress, their short and insistent flights ... Here is an image or verses so that, if you could, you would see in it white petals of the almond tree in bloom , skillful swifts of the landscape

This is a project full of emotions and facilitator of inclusion. I think it is an occasion not only for the families of the students of the Guru school, but for anyone who wants to discover purity in the eyes of some children, whom we consider different, but who also feel and think. It would be good to visit her as a family to explore with our children what they see in these images, and facilitate the understanding of generalized developmental disorders.
