Heart-shaped rubber stamps for Valentine's Day, do it yourself

Thinking of crafts to do with my son for Valentine, I thought of something very simple but that could help us to use it in other crafts. So, without complicating our lives too much (my son is only 2 and a half years old), I decided to make a rubber stamp with an old eraser that I found.

The seal was made by me, as it is not very safe for a small child to need the use of a cutter but then they can have fun painting and decorating with the heart.

How to make a rubber stamp (Stamp carving)

The first thing we need, as always, is to prepare all the necessary material:

  • Eraser (old or new, both days)
  • Cutter to cut the excess of the rubber that is not going to be used
  • Pencil to outline the heart
  • Red ink (here you can find colored inks)

Step by step to make rubber stamps

We draw with the pencil on the eraser. We draw a heart the size we want. You could also trace it on a sheet and then pass it to the eraser by pressing with the pencil to transfer the design to the rubber. This is done when the drawings are a little more elaborate than a simple heart.

Now we proceed to carvar the rubber with the cutter, grabbing the side well we are carvando, removing the excess of rubber from around the heart.

Now is the time for our son to have fun: We let them stamp the rubber in ink (we use food coloring because it is what we had at hand and served us perfectly).

Stamped on paper, notebooks, labels, cupcake capsules ...

And now you can prepare some chocolate cupcakes to fill these beautiful molds. You can take a gift to the teacher for Valentine's Day from your son, it sure makes him very excited. Here is a recipe for chocolate cupcakes, the best I've had.
