Birthday "charity", a different and supportive way to celebrate

In line with previous posts about children's birthdays and the possibility of celebrating them without gifts, an interesting idea emerged that I would like to share with everyone. It is the so-called "charity birthday".

It is about all the guests invited to the birthday replace the traditional gifts to the child for an amount of money that will be finally donated to a charitable association or with which the child or his family feels linked.

Our reader Flor told us in a comment, pointing out that a child had donated the gifts to the fire department of her town (her illusion is to be a firefighter) and managed to have a "guided tour" of the facilities.

We thought it was a good idea for the children to participate in this altruistic act that also surely does not leave the birthday boy without gifts, because the most likely thing is that the parents and family members will make him present.

Obviously, I would raise it as voluntary, after all, as I said on other occasions, what matters is that the children have a good time picnicking, blowing candles and playing. But it should be made clear that instead of a gift there is this other option that is what we and the child want.

Because it is assumed that, if it is not too small to understand each other, we have talked with the child to explain this issue, to explain the options, to express their preferences ... Probably not even important, because as I said what counts for them is the Party and its attendees, not what they bring.

Finally, if a gift is received, I imagine you could make a selection, keep it or we could also donate it, there are many options for it and it is another way to help other children.

I don't know if this kind of "charity birthday" They will spread. They really seem to me a good possibility, although as perfectly valid as that of many families who renounce gifts, or those of those who ask for practical things from which they really take advantage or those who do not give their guests any specification.

There are multiple options, and it will depend on the characteristics of each family and their wishes. You, can you imagine celebrating with your children one of these "birthday of charity"?
