'Sofia's gift' accompanies us during World Down Syndrome Day

Today is celebrated on World Down Syndrome Day, and this year it is intended to explicitly recognize the right of persons with disabilities to work on equal terms as others. With this celebration agreed by the General Assembly of the United Nations, it is intended raise public awareness about the issue, and remember the inherent dignity, worth, and contributions of people with intellectual disabilities.

We want to contribute our grain of sand highlighting two activities that directly or indirectly will help us to celebrate it. In Centro Centro (Palacio Cibeles) we can enjoy until April 6 (from Tuesday to Sunday and from 10 to 20 hours) an exhibition for get closer to the eyes of people with Down syndrome. Two of the participating photographers were present at the presentation of the exhibition last month, this is Miguel Maroto and Vanessa Blanco, who were accompanied by Eva Sala of the NoPhoto Participation Area. Eva was the one who explained that 'The objective of the project is to empower people with Down syndrome so that they themselves create the art'.
