The hard story of a pregnant woman who gave up cancer treatment and died weeks after giving birth

"How unfair life is", we always tell ourselves that we hear stories like this one that I will tell you today, if not worse things. A few days ago Elisabeth Joice, 36, passed away, a few weeks after being a mother, victim of a cancer with which he had been fighting for years.

The story is news because during pregnancy, and once she gave birth, small scenes of her life were filmed to make the documentary "40 weeks" by Christopher Henze, which will explain that this mother decided to stop cancer treatment to continue her pregnancy.

It all started a few years ago, when Elisabeth knew, after two years of relationship with her partner, Max, that she had cancer. He decided that he didn't want to fight, that he didn't want to suffer and that he would accept whatever came. However, Max gave her a reason to live, by asking for marriage, and she agreed to be cancer.

They got married, it seemed that lung cancer was remitting and in a subsequent review they received two news at once, with very different emotional content. They knew, at the same time, that Elisabeth I was pregnant and that the tumor had reproduced.

The surgeons operated on her, but she had to undergo more controls and chemotherapy to continue treating the cancer and at that time, at that crossroads, she decided to give up everything: she gave up any tests or treatments that could harm her baby's health.

In January, doctors saw that the cancer was spreading so fast that a decision had to be made. The girl would have to spend a few weeks admitted, to come early, but doing caesarean section at that time could start treating the mother and there would be some chance of survival. Thus was born Lily Anne Joice, a girl in perfect health.

Elisabeth started the fight, underwent the treatments and did her best to live. He did it until the end, for staying with his daughter as much as he could, but the cancer was so widespread that six weeks later, at the beginning of last month, he died.

Max, his partner, has posted on YouTube a video with some pictures of all of them, with music, and with the only short sentence, but concise, "Not enough time". I leave you with the video:

The documentary "40 weeks" will tell us the story of this couple and their daughter and, in addition, the father has started a campaign to raise funds for the support of his daughter Lily, in case anyone wants to collaborate.
