A new reality show will show women giving birth in the middle of nature without medical assistance

A year ago we showed you this video, which you can see below, in which a woman gives birth in the middle of nature. The video went around the world and there are already more than 22 million people who have seen it and, apparently, it came to the eyes of someone who thought it would be a good idea to make it a show.

I'm talking about the channel Lifetime, who has decided to do a new reality show in it women will give birth away from hospitals, but not at home or in a minimally controlled environment, but in the midst of nature, surrounded by the beauty and calm of a more wild world, but no medical assistance.

A televised madness

Those responsible for the program say that it will not be like giving birth alone in nature because the recording equipment will be close and that will make mothers feel safer. In addition, women who are going to give birth to their first child will not be candidates for the program. Remember that the protagonist of the original video had, in that video, her fourth child.

They believe that it will be a success of hearing, especially because the population is very accustomed to a totally controlled birth care in the hospital, with professionals dressed in white or green, with a lot of instruments and with the latest technology. However, it seems to me a televised madness.

The criticisms, which I share, have not taken long to arrive. It is criticized that recording women giving birth alone in the middle of nature can serve as an example for other women who want to aspire to it and want to emulate it, putting their lives and those of their babies at risk. From the chain they say no, that there will be very few women who decide to do something like that.

Alone, after all

And, although from the television network they explain that they will not be alone, they will be. The woman who inspired the program gave birth accompanied. He did everything alone, but at the time of the expulsion came some hands that helped him, at least, to take the baby. Perhaps in the program they decide to train their husbands so they know how to help the mother minimally, because they insist that there will be no medical assistance.

All the security, all the confidence of the mothers, will come from knowing that they are in the midst of nature, from knowing that they are capable of giving birth and knowing that they are accompanied by a television crew.

The first, when giving birth, is expendable. Not for being in nature you will give birth better than if you were at home. The second is what can most help a woman, your ability to do it alone. The problem is that things do not always go as one thinks and nature also makes many mistakes. And the third, I don't know what to say. The last thing I would want in case a delivery was wrong is that the people around me were part of a recording team, and not because they recorded, but because they would have no idea how to help in case of complication in a delivery.

We all know that it is not essential to give birth in a hospital. Many mothers give birth at home daily. But they don't do it alone. Usually not. They do it with a midwife, with a gynecologist or with someone who knows what to do in case the delivery is complicated. We'll see how all this ends.
