Today a joint action of the Gasol Foundation and UNICEF Spanish Committee called “Children first, wherever they are”. The aim is to generate social awareness about the need to give priority to the most vulnerable children both in public policies and in the different areas of our society.
In the act of presentation, Pau Gasol has highlighted the consequences that for children do not have adequate nutrition or healthy habits; on the other hand has stated that the sport helps children who have suffered wars or other terrible situations. That is why, together with UNICEF, the foundation he runs with his brother wants to support initiatives for the health and protection of children.
It is estimated that with the union between the two entities, progress can be made in the rights of children who are punished for situations of poverty and deprivation, as well as for the cruelty of armed conflicts, among other situations.
During the ceremony, the president of the Spanish committee referred to the initiative to promote a more vulnerable State Pact for Children. As you know, through the #YoPidoPacto campaign, UNICEF wants to add wills to defend children's rights.
The collaboration between both organizations will materialize in public initiatives for the promotion of children's rights, and sports promotion activities as an educational tool for development and social inclusion.
In this sense, Pau and Marc Gasol expressed their enthusiasm “for working through sports and with children in promoting good habits for their health and for the whole society, because we believe that sport teaches us values such as respect, effort and teamwork ”.
